Card Stacking

This poster employs the card stacking technique with manipulated evidence to show that the war has resulted in massive bloodshed and loss and that the war in Vietnam should be halted immediately.
The posters shows the number 4000 to represent the amount of aircraft fighters from the US that were shot down, with the 4 being part of a vietnamese bayonet piercing a US fighter jet. There is then the figure of a sad man in the bottom right corner, possibly Nixon, possibly a captured fighter jet. This poster uses this figure to show that there has been terrible carnage at the site of war in Vietnam and that the American attempt seems futile, therefore it should be discontinued. This poster is a clear representation of card stacking, seeing as the statistic of 4000 planes, which is an ambiguous statistic, is shown only to paint a negative aspect of the war. It does not mention the progress that resulted in the loss of these planes, or any positive aspect for that matter. It only shows the seemingly huge figure of lost aircrafts to show that the war is damaging to the US. This method of card stacking, telling the viewers that attempts of liberation is futile, turns them against the war.
