Stereotype

This poster uses the stereotype technique employing stereotypical phrases that show a biased belief about a group stating that girls would date men that say no to go to the military, therefore people should not enlist in the draft.

The stereotype technique is used towards women on whom they would have relationships with which aren’t really true for every women in this world. The women presented to us in this poster are also very attractive and this serves as a purpose that men that do not go to the military will get to date these “pretty” women. What this poster is trying to imply is direct in that “boys who say NO”, in the military draft, will have “girls say YES”, in dating. Having less men that are entering the military draft will get less people entering the war which will lead to the end of the war. Viewers(Americans especially men) will have the stereotype that they will date these pretty girls if they don’t attend the military draft so this poster will appeal to men’s desires and given a view that not entering the military draft is all they have to do. On the bottom of the ad, it also states that “proceeds from the sale of this poster go to The Draft Resistance” so it adds on to the author of the poster’s purpose of not entering the military draft appealing to men’s desires.
