This poster uses the name calling technique using graphic imagery and accusotory words to show that President Nixon is just like a blood-thirsty rat in that he is barbaric without thinking about the consequences and kept on repeating this process.

This picture symbolizes a rat with President Nixon by putting a caricature of Nixon on the rat’s face eating human flesh with clear-red blood all over the floor with the statement “the blood of our courageous brothers and sisters of indo-china”. This statement presents that President Nixon is creating more and more casualties especially towards the people that are Indo-chinese. There are then the words on the rat’s tail stating that “.. a diseased rat, that draws no nourishment from its victims, but excretes blood..” as this also implies that President Nixon had no thoughts for the people. The purpose of this poster is primarily offend Nixon and shame him by depicting hm as a blood-thirsty rat that must be stopped in the Vietnam War. Viewers (presumably Americans) will believe that their President Nixon is in fact a cruel person that has caused most of the deaths in the Vietnam War, and this in turn will motivate them to stop this war especially by realizing that their president is inflicting terrible things upon other countries.
