Testimonial

Using the testimonial technique, this poster informs the viewers that a famous person (John Lennon) also wants the war to end.

This poster, most likely directed towards John Lennon’s followers, uses the popularity of John Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono to its advantage and have more people support anti-war. It also states the idea of a famous 1900s artist that war can be over, “if you want it”. With both John Lennon and Yoko Ono being a popular artists, many people believed in their opinions and choices, which made many people convert from pro-war to anti-war. Although the poster does not provide any real reason why the citizens should make an effort to stop the war, because people recognize John Lennon and Yoko Ono as significant figures in media, they are influenced by their words. The propaganda poster is an image of John Lennon’s family supporting anti-war and the current status: urgent and sorrowful. This allows the audience to feel the need to listen to this notable man and try to stop the Vietnam War.
